There’s no denying one of the hardest aspects of the #teacherlife is our teacher salary. Followed by the fact that most of us spend apart of our salary for supplies for our classroom. I don’t know about you all, but I buy something for my classroom or students at least weekly.
With bills, bills, kids, students, food, target, and more bills. Back-to-school shopping can feel out of reach for a lot of us teachers.
I have a fully mixed wardrobe of investment staples, seasonal ‘I’ll wear this a couple times’ styles, and total steals!
This year I started my back-to-school teacher shopping with one of my favorite on-line flash boutiques: Jane.com! If you haven’t browsed their ridiculously good looking and ridiculously low prices, I highly recommend you get on their website…. right after you look at my first stop on my back-to-school shopping adventure!
Back-to-school staple: a comfortable sandal heel
C/O Jane.com | Price: $24.99, originally $45.99 | size: 7.5
When we go back to school, we are often still in the summer heat wave. Teaching in heels isn’t for everyone. With dress pant joggers, crop + flare pants, and summer dresses in heat style, we typically aren’t ready to trade in our wedges. Sandal heels are comfortable, easy to walk in, stylish, and have great outfit versatility.
These CityClassified sandal heels have exceeded my expectations. The best part? They’re only $24.99!
back-to-school staple: a simple tote
Tote c/o Jane.com: here | Price: $10.99, originally $29.99 | Planner: 4th of Pi
$10.99… you read that correctly. At work last week, one of my colleagues said, “Did you get that bag from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?” My response? “No… get this… $11.99…” I was a dollar off. Her mouth dropped. I’m not even kidding… I love this tote more than my Kate Spade bags. The straps are sturdy and the leather is tough. I’ve been using it all of summer school!
I have multiple “teacher-bags” that I rotate through monthly. I like when my totes match the seasonal colors and trends. My totes range from $5.99 on mega-sale at Old Navy to a Kate Spade bag that I received for Christmas. This concept probably isn’t normal… but I don’t want to wear my bags down and working at an elementary school means they need lots of cleaning!
I love when I find good quality totes on sale… like this gem! It helps all the bags last longer… and for $10.99? I mean… goodbye self-control!
back-to-school staple: a midi
Dress c/o Jane.com | Price: $34.99, originally $69.99
Lace is one of my favorite summer to fall transition fabrics. In Seattle, the sun will often be out but the temperature will drop to low 60’s, high 50’s. It’s the perfect sweater weather until you feel the sunlight for any length of time… therefore, it’s not technically sweater weather yet. It’s still chilly though… Lace midi’s are the perfect solution!
This dress screams teacher and I love THAT about it! I love the classiness of this pale yellow midi and the simple lace design. Being 5’1, it’s hard to find midi’s that don’t look like a prom dress that’s too big. If you’re short like me, this midi hit’s your legs perfectly.
I’m still not over these prices, the quality, and timelessness of these pieces. I have been stalking Jane.com almost every day for more fashion steals to cross off my back-to-school shopping list!
Back-to-school shopping doesn’t have to feel dreadful or out of reach… or even necessary… but if you’re in the market to expand your teacher wardrobe, Jane.com is a great place to do it!
What’s your favorite piece? What is your must have back-to-school shopping item? I can’t wait to hear from you!
