I’m always surprised when people comment on my photos, “YOU CAN WEAR JEANS?” I’m learning that a teachers dress code doesn’t only vary from state to state, but school to school. I had no idea. There’s a lot of fashion flexibility in my district with the expectation that we look polished and professional. I could wear jeans every single day if I wanted to. But hey– no jeans, no problems!
For how much I wear jeans, I don’t actually feel comfortable in them.
Middle school teacher me wore lots of pencil skirts, slacks, and polished dresses. When I ditched my wardrobe that aged me 20 years, I ditched some of my favorite pieces with them. The piece I realized I missed the most? My navy slacks. My beautiful little gap slacks that survived my masters exam, EdTpa, and 2 years of interning/student teaching… my beloved little thangs! They kept my legs moving when they wanted to crawl immediately back in bed.
I’m all about budgeting right now. I hit a home run with these comfortable and classy pair of navy slacks from H&M. You can’t go wrong because they are $14.99 and come in 7 different colors. The quality is way better than I expected when I ordered them on-line.
Navy slacks might be the most important aspect of a teachers wardrobe because you can easily swap out outfit that you would ear to work with a pair of jeans for navy slacks. slacks and converses are one of my favorite looks, next to them paired with hot pink flats, of course!
What is your pants dress code? Can you wear jeans? Slacks only? Can’t wait to hear from you!
