a beautiful series for your classroom: little people, big dreams
Little People, Big Dreams was one of my greatest finds during the 2018-2019 school year. It’s true, I’m a huge sucker for a good inspirational story. I’m an even bigger sucker if you can find the stories in a children’s book, with language that is accessible to my students… AND represents stories and people that look and sound like them… or who they could become one day.
Straight from the publishers because I couldn’t say it better myself, “Little People, BIG DREAMS is a best-selling series of books and educational games that explore the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists.
All of them achieved incredible things, yet each began life as a child with a dream. This empowering series offers inspiring messages to children of all ages, in a range of formats. The board books are told in simple sentences, perfect for reading aloud to babies and toddlers. The hardcover versions present expanded stories for beginning readers.”
Here’s a little peek into three of my students favorite stories: Mother Teresa, Maya Angelou, and Muhammad Ali!
Book: Mother Teresa
Book: Maya Angelou
Book: Muhammad Ali
I love how bright and vibrant the images are! Every few months, a new person is added to the series. I’ve purchased all of mine from amazon with prices ranging from $8.99 to $12.99. I plan on having my students vote every month on which new inspirational story to add to our collection.
Right now, there are over 30 amazing stories in the series!
Have you read them yet? What story are you looking most forward to diving into with your students?
