We’ve all been here before… you know, when you’ve been rocking your favorite dress all summer and have the realization where your teacher clothes are coming back out. I usually do a season wardrobe swap about twice a year– where my bright summer clothes are nicely (shoved) into a box and the sweaters come out of hiding.
This year, I’m trying something new! I’m keeping all my summer dresses out to try to incorporate them into my back-to-school styles. I’ve seen so many fun colored jean jackets, bomber jackets, and lightweight sweaters that can easily be thrown over my most loved summer dress. This pink pinstriped shift from Isla Doe Boutique has been one of my favorite throw on dresses this summer. It’s has spaghetti straps and almost found itself back in my summer box. However… here we are! Throwing a jean jacket over your favorite summer dress is the perfect (and easiest) way to make your summer wardrobe last longer.
Speaking of summer, for those of you who are joining from one of the other amazing teacher fashion bloggers out there, I’m Ashley 🙂 I started The Teacher Dress Code last summer as a growth outlet professionally and personally. I’m about to be a fourth year, elementary special education (resource room) teacher in the Seattle, Washington area. I work primarily with students who have emotional-behavioral disorders and love every single minute of it. A couple random facts about me: the doctor once predicted I would be over really tall (I’m 5’2), I was on the Tyra show when I was sixteen, you have to take a ferry to get to my hometown, and I’m a dog mom to a one year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever and a 10 week old German Wired Hair Pointer.
I can’t wait to get to know you more!
