FACT: Eyelet is the fraternal twin to my jaguar print. Half my clothing rack right now has spots– either eyelet or jaguar. What can I say– when a girls obsessed, she’s obsessed! Thankfully both trends are timeless, even with the pendulum swings that occur every 2-3 years with clothing brands.
Which pendulum swings more– education or fashion? For a person who loves structure + consistently, I’m surprised I love both so much.
Eyelet, however, has been a prominent trend since the 16th century Victorian era (bet you didn’t think you would be getting a history lesson when reading my post today, ha!) I bought a “sketch your style” learn how to fashion draw book and my favorite part is reading about the history of all the trends. Back on task.
Eyelet originated in the Czech Republic and spread through all of Europe, becoming the staple for for the contemporary 16th century woman. Eyelet has been popular for over 500 years… I don’t know why I think that’s so cool, lol. I’m so weird.
I will be wearing eyelet on the weekly this fall (same with these earrings. I totally splurged when I saw they were 50% off!) and can’t wait to see how you wear the timeless Victorian trend 🙂
Yay or nay on the little fashion history? It’s so teacher of me, I get it… I just can’t help it. This girl loves fashion, education, and history! Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
other eyelet tops I love
