A few weeks ago I shared “10 invisible truths” you can’t see on social media. It was a similar concept to my post “50 things you can’t see by looking at my instagram” I wrote back in 2018. Wow. That seems like a different life ago… I mean, it really was.
In case you missed it– getting to know the people behind the pictures is really important so I thought I would reshare it 🙂 Along with the outfits and details from last week when I taught high school leadership and marketing!
There is so much that can’t be seen in the social media world. We show glimpses but some things are much harder to show than others. To me, understanding and listening are two precious gifts that I wish were given more often in our world. Understanding each other, our perspectives, and where we each are coming from can be hard to see in a photo. There is always so much more behind every picture we post— so, so much more… it’s almost impossible to see where we’ve been and what makes us who we are. Which can make it hard to listen and understand when so much of our stories are invisible.
Sharing is always a personal choice and I want to share 10 invisible truths that are hidden within each action I take in the social media world but key parts of me ❤️
1. My younger brother received special education services (and this was his classroom 17 years ago)
2. I am a small town girl who was born and raised on a tiny island in the pnw.
3. I have ptsd and add— two misunderstood and invisible disabilities
4. My enneagram is a 5 with 4 wing
5. And I’m an INFJ-A on the Meyers Briggs personality test
6. My ACE score is a 9. During those experiences, I accepted the love of a few special teachers and those relationships not only taught me a lifetime of resilience but continue to inspire my teaching every day I’m in the classroom.
7. I grew up with a single mother who’s greatest resource is an unlimited supply of love. For herself, her family, and people from all different walks of life and cultures.
8. I grew up receiving free lunch at school from kindergarten to graduation… and was a husky promise student at UW 💜💛
9. I love reading and writing poetry. Ever since I was in elementary school, writing poetry has been healing for me.
10. I genuinely, whole-heartily believe love is the answer and education is the key to creating the type of world we are striving to create.
