At some point in your teaching career you are going to be faced with a situation that challenges you in your beliefs about yourself as an educator. Can I uphold the power of my words? Do I truly believe in the words I type to the world? Can I practice what I preach? How am I going to let this define me? Those were all questions I had to ask myself this week.
My tagline, if that’s even what you want to call it, is clothe yourself in grace, compassion, purpose, love, and empowerment. All of those concepts are what I strive to embody as a human and an educator. As I was brighting up my weekly teacher outfits with pops of spring, I was also deciding if my words meant what I believed them to mean to me.

My heart is still slightly burning. At the end of the day, I chose to stay true to the human and educator I believe myself to be. I’m keeping this post short because I am covered with a variety of emotions. I challenge you to think about what you believe about yourself as an educator and ask yourself, “does this match how I show up to work each day?” Does it?
This week was a good reminder for me to always be me and at the heart of each and every one of my decisions, is the kids.
