One of the number one questions I get asked is: what are the most comfortable shoes to teach in? Converse, absolutely! Except, there is no way I could wear them every day. The middle school teacher in me still wears heels in elementaryland but thankfully I’m surrounded by some pretty fashionable teacher besties (the word colleagues sounds weird) who rock booties, heels, wedges, you name it!
Comfortable shoes is a must and every year I do my back-to-school shopping, I’m always pleasantly surprised with the quality and comfort of Targets shoes. Every year I buy 5 new pairs of shoes! While I’ll add onto the collection throughout the school year, I try to start fresh with a pair for every outfit occasion.
a chunky heel
One of my favorite looks is work worthy joggers paired with a low chunky heel. Low chunky heels feel like you’re wearing sandals but look like you’re like wearing heels. They are the perfect style-mix for teachers. I have short chunky heels in almost every bright color. Adding these taupe chunks will be on the weekly rotation. They are only $24.99 from Target. This little heel is true to size š
stylish flats
These jeweled flats are one of my favorites this season! I love the hint of deep blush on suede and the simple sparkle of the jewels. Buying cheaper flats is one of buys that is either “feels like I won the lottery” or “Well… they were only $19.99…” This pair from Target’s a new day is a “feels like I won the lottery” find! I can’t wait to pair these with some lighter washed distressed denim and an over-sized cream sweater! I am so ready for fall.
color of the season
Hello, yellow! One of this seasons colors is mustard yellow and I’m pretty excited about it. Mustard is my favorite bright neutral and it surprisingly pairs well with so many colors! It’s going to be pretty warm in Seattle so I opted for another pair of chunky heels in this color. I’ll probably be adding a pair of mustard flats to my collection soon… especially at these price points!
booties rockin’ everywhere
Booties are one shoe I will invest in. I bought these booties during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m counting down the days until I can wear them. I typically invest in booties for a couple different reasons. The structure and build around the ankle is typically stronger and sturdier. It drives me crazy when booties start to look bagging and worn out. Due to the nicer material, they usually last longer. I will wear booties on really rainy days and if they aren’t nicer quality, I won’t be able to wear them as long. I once had a pair of lucky brand booties for 3 years before I finally had to toss em’!
sneaks for days!
Another item I will invest in. Gotta have a great pair of sneakers to wear on Fridays or field trip days! I don’t do too much heavy lifting in my sneaks. These trainers are so stylish and dreamy on the feet. For years I was anit-jeans and sneaks but now it’s one of my favorites to rock! A great pair of converse would fall into this category. I bought a new pair before my trip to Europe so they will be on my mid-year shopping list.
