Ah, yes! What does a teacher do all summer? Self-care, working their second job, binge watching netflix– basically anything that decreases your teacher brain by at least 75%. If anyone knows how to decrease it to 100%, please, please, please tell us your secret! Maybe someday 🙂
I started drawing in the beginning of June after a really difficult month at work. I googled “ways to distract your mind” and the idea of drawing came up. I love investigating things (google and I are best friends) so I obviously dug into the health benefits of drawing. Holy moly guacamole! Who knew there were so many!
Maybe I’m late to the game on this but did you know drawing helps improve your brain development/functioning, emotional regulation, analytical thinking, communication, and stress levels? I didn’t… to make a long realization short: I draw almost every day. If you want to read more about it, click here for a good article!
Am I good at it? LOL… not yet. Will I ever be? Probably not. Is that okay with me? Heck yes… because i’ve added a cheap and healthy tool into my school year survival toolbox. I can’t think of a better time to start incorporating positive habits to make it through the school year than summer vacation.
I have had so much fun learning how to draw by using 50 Ways to Draw your Beautiful Ordinary Life. You honestly don’t even need a sketchbook to go with it, because it has built in drawing opportunity for every mini-lesson. The drawing guides are easy to follow, super cute, and the author adds the perfect little touch of commentary. I can’t wait to continue my drawing and healthy habit building all summer long!
I highly, highly, highly recommend this book!
