“So no one told you kindergarten p.e was going to be this way” in the tune of the friends theme song. Literally heard that verse on repeat during each p.e group this week, ha. Lets just say I came home with some bruises (from falling and bumping into things), snot filled clothes, a strange smell on my sweatshirt, and a brand new philosophy on what it means to be a kindergarten and P.E teacher.
It’s pretty amazing how unique we all our in our “speciality” area. I’ll take a self-contained class for kiddos with behavior plans over teaching p.e any day. Whenever people are like “it takes a special person to teach…” we are all those special people in each of our teaching areas. Hands down. That’s what makes our teaching communities so amazingly rich– we are all so different and have so many different skills and experiences to bring to the table. I know this might sound super cliche but I’m going to say it anyways: you can’t possibly compare with any other teacher or human out there because that teacher or human isn’t you. We are each individually so unique, but together we complete all the parts to help grow and learn within and from school settings and on-line communities.
Even though we’re better and stronger together, being our own individual is pretty freaken’ awesome and badass too. There is no one in the world like us, with our story. Stories that I hope to hear more of in the coming weeks… and especially as I start the journey of fearenly (like fearless but with fear and doing it anyways lol) sharing mine.
I would love to read who is represented. Leave what subject and/or grade level and/or specialty you teach in the comments <3
